Throughout my work I’ve been exploring my own relation to spaces and places through a material means of installation, drawing and painting. Reconciling old memories and experiences into new and current work has been therapeutic for not just my practice but also myself during lockdown. I’ve been compiling landscapes, people and animals within my work to create new dreamscapes I find myself wishing - or dreaming I was in. I’ve found myself dreaming more of the future and past during lockdown and felt the best way to document that was through drawing and painting. I’m drawn to “softer” materials such as water downed paints and pencils as I enjoy the fluidity and the ability to build layers quickly.

My work develops through layers of shapes and drawing which help construct these environments that I place figures and objects in. I sometimes scatter phrases or sayings into my work that link me back to specific places or times when I felt or lived a certain way. I’m interested in the role spaces play in life but also within my work and how we inhabit and create them.
